Notlar Letter regarding submissions for promotion in Rajpootana [Rājasthān] and the movements of the various agents:Colonel Macdonald at Deolee [Deoli] who is proceeding on privilege leave and has applied for permission to retire and recommending Major Clay to succeed him; Captain Shuttleworth (Cantonment Magistrate Nusseerabad [Nasīrābād]) proceeding on privilege leave and recommending Captain Loch to officiate for him; Lt Yate proceeding to the Meywar [Mewār] Marwar [Mārwār] Boundary to settle the border dispute there and recommending Captain Smith to officiate for Yate in the Meywar Sheel Corps during his absence; Captain Berkeley's departure on medical leave and the commander at Deolee taking over his duties until an agent is appointed by the Viceroy.The letter continues by discussing the progression of buildings at Mayo College and the hope it may open to students March 1875 and suggesting Captain Shuttleworth as a potential governor of the college.The letter ends with the suggestion that Captain Greenfield could succeed Major Clay (should he be appointed) and his feeling that Captain P Smith would be a better successor to Greenfield than the Political Agent at Kirkwood. | 4 folios | more | less
