Notlar Letter confirming that once the East African Special Mission is concluded he will proceed to Constantinople to confer with Sir Philip Francis in order to prepare a draft of an Order in Council on the subject of consular jurisdiction in Persia and the Persian Gulf.The letter goes on to confirm that the framing of the Order in Council will take into account the views of the Government of India, laid out in Despatch No.10 of 24 January 1873 and regarding his having learned from the Acting Political Resident at Zanzibar that the Residency in the Persian Gulf has been placed under the direct control of the Government of India.The letter concludes by reporting that he and Sir Bartle Frere are expected to reach Muscat about the 9 April 1873. | 2 folios | more | less
