Notlar Letter relates to William Bruce's role in negotiating adjustments to the accounts of Mohomed Nebbe Khan [Muhammad Nabi Khan, former Governor of Bushire]. Bruce provides details of Mohomed Nebbe Khan's case, and reports that the Prince at Shiraz has promised that Mohomed Nebbe Khan and his family will be sent down to Bushire after the arrival at Shiraz of the minister, Hajee Mohomed Hossain Khan [Muhammad Husain Khan], Nizaum ud Dowlah. Includes the following enclosures: [1] a copy of a letter, dated 21 March 1814, from Sir Gore Ouseley, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Tehran, to Bruce, advising that Bruce request that Mahomed Nebbe Khan pay for Bruce's travel expenses to Shiraz; [2] a copy of a letter, dated 22 March 1814, from Ouseley to the Earl of Moira [Francis Rawdon-Hastings], Governor General of India, stating that the King of Persia [Fat'h Ali Shah Qajar] wishes to present Bruce with a badge of the Second Class of the Order of the Lion and Son [Sun]; [3] a copy of a letter, dated 24 March 1814, from Ouseley to Bruce, authorising Bruce to withold payment to the Persian Government unless it releases Mahomed Nebbe Khan, as stipulated in Bruce's agreement with the Persian minister, the Nizaum ud Dowlah. | 4 folios | more | less
