The enclosed letter (ff 10-11) is from A. Galloway and John Shepherd, East India House, London, to the Government in Council, Bombay, dated 11 January 1850. Its enclosure is a copy of a letter sent by the British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs to the British Minister at Tehran, Colonel Justin Sheil, requesting that the Persian Government consent to allowing British and East India Company vessels to stop and search vessels sailing under the Persian flag, if suspected of transporting slaves. \| 3 folios \| more \| less
