Notlar Covering letter with enclosures:1) Letter no.258 of 1852 (ff 47-49) from Kemball to Major Atkins Hamerton, His Majesty's Consul and Honourable Company's Agent in the dominions of His Highness the Imaum of Muscat, dated 10 August 1852. Kemball states that through intelligence received by the British agent at Bahrain, Hajee Jassim (second enclosure, f 49), it has come to his attention that the Imam of Muscat is exchanging correspondence with Abbas Pasha, viceroy of Egypt. Kemball suspects that these exchanges are in turn influenced by Egyptian relations with the Wahhabis, and requests Hamerton make enquiries as to the precise nature of the Imam of Muscat's intentions in his relations with Egypt;2) A translated extract of a letter (f 49) from Hajee Jassim, the British agent at Bahrain, to Kemball, dated 26 July, in which Jassim reports that a follower of Abbas Pasha, viceroy of Egypt, has arrived in Bahrain by boat, en route to Muscat, with 12 camels to be presented from Abbas Pasha to the Imam of Muscat. | 5 folios | more | less
