Notlar Part of a letter, circa 1030 CE, from the Jewish community in Sicily, its court and elders (probably the principal community in Palermo), to the Jewish communities in Qayrawān and al-Mahdiyya, specifically addressing Elḥanan b. Ḥušiʾel and Jacob the Nagid b. Amram as heads of the community in Qayrawān, praising the achievements of Ḥayyim b. Jacob the Spaniard (known as Ḵalaf). The letter mentions other individuals including a certain Nathan, Abraham b. David b. Labrāṭ, Samuel b. Moses, Abū l-Faraj, who is on his way to Egypt, Moses b. Yaḥyā the Perfumer, and ʿAmmar b.
