Notlar The letter is reporting that the Commodore's cruise of the Arabian Coast in the Clivehas been a success, and that he has obtained the consent of all the 'Arabian chiefs' to ensure the Maritime Truce 1843 will remain in affect until June 1853. It further reports that the chiefs are agreeable to a renewal of the truce, or an introduction of a general peace.Enclosed with the letter are instructions (No. 144 of 1852) issued by the Commodore to Lieutenant James [Jonson ?], Commander of the HC Brig Tigris, dated 17 October 1852, indicating that he should remain in the Lower Gulf, and mediate any maritime disputes that occur amongst the tribes of the Arabian Coast. | 2 folios | more | less
