Notlar Letter regarding the situation in Beloochistan [Baluchistan] and Afghanistan including his thoughts on the new young Khan of Kelat [Kalat] (Mir Khudadad Khan). Also discussed are Jacob's thoughts on the British Government's attitude towards India, and his belief that the disturbances in Rajpootana [Rajasthan] and the surrounding neighbourhood have been caused by the leadership of George Laurence. The letter also reports on the troop of Belooches which Lieutenant George Macauley is marching to Rajpootana and that they are at a standstill owing to a lack of cash as the collector's treasury is empty owing to monies being expended in advance. The letter also refers to a report of the officers and men of the Scinde Irregular Horse, and a letter from Malcolm Green, which he wishes Robert Phayre to see, both of which are no longer enclosed.A postscript to the letter refers to an error in a survey, which has been identified as a clerical error and gives the corrected details. | 2 folios | more | less
