Notlar The letter reports on the Feerooz Merza's – the Prince of Fars Province – visit to Bushire, which he departed on 8 April 1851. It notes that throughout the visit the Prince has maintained that the principal object of his visit is the collection of revenue, and the suppression of robberies; the Resident outlines his opinion – generally positive – of his attitude towards his duties and responsibilities, in comparison to his predecessors. It also notes that a new regulation has been introduced prohibiting Persian subjects from engaging in non-cash transactions with foreigners without the prior sanction of the local governor. The letter explains that the Dwrya Beggee, and the Yawur commanding the Bushire Garrison, have been instructed to pay members of the British Residency 'every respect and attention'. It further notes that the Hajee Kuwam has been granted control of additional districts, as a result of the gifts he presented to the Prince of Fars. | 2 folios | more | less
