Notlar	The letter is an acknowledgement of the receipt of a letter dated 1 September 1807 with enclosed packages. The Resident expresses his gratitude for the intelligence he has been receiving from Bussora [Basra] and hopes communication with Europe will become more regular now that peace has been established between the Porte and Britain. It also outlines the Resident's suspicion that the French are seeking an alliance with Persia against the British. \| 2 folios \| Condition: The item has suffered from pest damage which has resulted in a hole in f. 34 that obscures some of the body of the letter, as well as the signature. This means that some of the text is a little difficult to read, however it is still possible to identify the intended recipient. \| more \| less
