Notlar In this letter Lieutenant James Longden Stevens, Commander of the Honourable Company's sloop Clive,provides details of how he intervened on behalf of his servant, Goolam Ali, who was put in prison for detaining clothes belonging to one of Stevens's former servants, a man named Abool. Stevens states that he detained Abool's clothes because he had stolen money from him. He writes that he gave the clothes to Goolam Ali and instructed him not to deliver them without his orders.
