Notlar Recto: letter, in Hebrew, from Donna Sarah (דונה סורו), on behalf of herself, her daughters Reina, Rachel and Rebecca, and her son-in-law Moses, to her absent husband Solomon the scribe, expressing dismay at his silence despite their many letters to him, and urging him not to proceed with his plan to travel to Turkey as his continued absence damages their family’s reputation, causes tension between Moses and the pregnant Rebecca, to the point where she may miscarry, and potentially harms their daughter Rachel’s marriage prospects. Donna Sarah urges him to secure the tax exemption he has been seeking from Solomon, but in any case to return home at once. Quotes from Proverbs 17:24 in reference to the folly of his roaming abroad. Verso: unrelated letter in Arabic script. | Condition: holes, faded | Layout: 29 lines (recto); 12 lines (verso) | more | less
