Notlar Papers regarding the 1913 uprising of the Ibāḍī imamate and the tribes of the interior of Oman under the leadership of Sālim bin Rāshid al-Kharūṣī, against the authority of the Sultans of Muscat and Oman, Fayṣal bin Turkī Āl Bū Sa‘īd and Taymūr bin Fayṣal Āl Bū Sa‘īd.The volume consists of Muscat News reports submitted by the Political Agent at Muscat, plus correspondence between the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf, the Senior Naval Officer in the Persian Gulf, and the Government of India Foreign and Political Department. There are also translated copies of communications received from Sālim bin Rāshid al-Kharūṣī,and Taymūr bin Fayṣal Āl Bū Sa‘īd.The correspondence and reports provide details of the following: the progress of the uprising; the intervention of Indian troops and British ships; the bombardment of rebel positions at Barka [Barkā] and Kuriyat; negotiations between the Imam and the Sultan of Muscat and Oman; support for the uprising outside of Oman; proposals for the establishment of a levy corps at Muscat; and the Sultan's attempts to raise money, enlist foreign aid, and purchase weaponry.The volume includes a divider which gives the subject and part numbers, the year the subject file was opened, the subject heading, and a list of correspondence references contained in the volume by year.
