Notlar The letter confirms rumours concerning the death of Carem Cahn [Karim Khan]. The letter also reports further details of Shaikh Rashed's demands for the return of a captured English vessel (as well as his explanation of events that led to its seizure) and Beaumont expresses his reluctance to accept Rashed's offer as it would 'encourage others to molest us'. The letter states that acts of piracy will cease once peace is restored between Sheikh Rashed and the Imam of Muscat. It is reported that the population in Bushire is in fear of an attack by Reis Bagur of Tankseer [Ra'is Baqer Khan of Tangesir] after the death of Carem Cahn. Various other financial and administrative issues are also discussed. Shippped by Imam's ship via Muscat. | 2 folios | A slim portion of text is missing on the right-hand side of Page 16. | more | less
