It also covers French efforts to provide armaments to the Persian army and summons issued by the King of Persia to his sons, which the Resident believes to be a prelude to further negotiations with the French.One enclosure; translation of a letter from Nicholas Hankey Smith to Aga Mohumed Hussun, Yerd dated 20 March 1808. The Resident is expressing his gratitude for the intelligence and pomegranates that have been sent to him and claims that the British Government is not at all concerned with the designs of the French. At the same time he explains that he is not in a position to know what the British response to the French will be.
