Notlar This file contains correspondence between British officials regarding efforts to implement a codification of law in Bahrain. The correspondence is primarily between Charles Belgrave, Adviser to the Government of Bahrain; Major Reginald George Evelin Alban, Political Agent in Bahrain; and Lieutenant-Colonel Charles Geoffrey Prior, Political Resident in the Persian Gulf.The correspondence discusses possible models that could be used as a template for Bahrain (such as the Penal Code of Sudan). Also discussed is from where an individual with the necessary skills needed to draft Bahrain's legal code could be hired; suggestions made include India, Yemen and Zanzibar.The file contains a letter to Belgrave from Judge H I Lloyd regarding his potential involvement in the drafting of Bahrain's legal code and a possible visit to Bahrain (ff 5-6). | 1 file (30 folios) | The papers are arranged in approximate chronological order from the front to the rear of the file. | Foliation: the main foliation sequence commences at the front cover with 1 and terminates at the back cover with 30; these numbers are written in pencil, are circled, and are located in the top right corner of the recto side of each folio.
