Notlar In this letter, James Dow, Assistant Surgeon, temporarily in charge of the Residency, encloses copies of two letters (not included) that he has received respectively from Captain Charles Gray, Commanding Officer of the British troops in the Persian Gulf, and Lieutenant Ferdinand Price, Acting Pay Master at the same station. Dow reports that in response to their requests for a sum of money equal to a lak [lakh] of Bombay rupees, he has raised a sum equal to 50,000 Bombay rupees, chiefly in New Persian rupees. Dow also states that he has granted a set of bills for the amount in question, which will leave tomorrow for Keshme [Qeshm], on board the Honourable Company cruiser, the Benares. | 2 folios | more | less
