Notlar Letter, mostly written by Solomon ‘the lowly’ (i.e. the Gaʾon Solomon b. Judah), to Abraham ha-Kohen ‘Prince of the Congregation’ b. Isaac ha-Kohen, asking the recipient to use his influence with the governor Abū l-Futūḥ ha-Nagid, in order that Qayyīn b. ʿAbd al-Qādir, can avoid prosecution for offences committed in the past but of which he has since repented, probably relating to his former political loyalties. This request is being sent on behalf of Murajjā ‘Elder of the Princes of the city’ (perhaps Ramla), who is a friend of the accused. Both the accused and his friend are Muslim, demonstrating the extent of Abraham’s influence as a physician to the Islamic court. | Condition: complete | Layout: 19 lines (recto; verso is blank) | more | less
