Notlar In this letter William Digges Latouche describes the movements of three French ships at Muscat harbour and their interaction with an English ship from Bengal, which was delivering goods. He reports that the Governor of Muscat refused to hand over the English ship to the French. He also discusses intelligence received from the Consul in Aleppo, regarding the respective movements of a Dutchman and a French officer. Latouche reports that Admiral Darby arrived at Gibraltar on 12 April 1781 without encountering opposition from the Spanish fleet. He also relays the news that Admiral Rodney has taken from the French the island of St Bartholomew, and from the Dutch the colonies of Damarary [Demerara] and Essequibo, on the Spanish Main. | 1 folio | more | less
