Notlar MacLeod acknowledges the receipt of Hardy's letter, dated 10 May 1823 in which he enclosed a letter from Zekee Khan [Zakī Khān], the Prime Minister of Fars. He states that he will reply when he finds occasion and Hardy's reply is sufficient in the meantime. In addition, he writes that he has enclosed (not included) a translation of the paper for Hardy's satisfaction.In compliance with Hardy's request, MacLeod writes that he proposes to send him four thousand rupees on board the Volunteer, Captain Waterman. In addition, he writes of his concern to hear of the deaths of Lieutenants Grubb and Reynolds, and of the departure of the Antelope from Bushere [Bushire] on 14 May 1823.
