The enclosures are dated 15 September and 9 October 1837.The papers consist of: letter from Captain Claude Martine Wade, Political Agent, Loodiana [Ludhiana], describing the letter, which had been presented to the Maharajah by the French King's Agent, General Jean-François Allard, and making comments on the letter and Allard's involvement; a copy of the letter in French (dated 24 October 1835); and a letter of acknowledgement from the Secretary to the Government of India (William Hay Macnaghten). \| 1 item (13 folios) \| There is an abstract of contents of the despatch, numbered 1-4, on folio 302.
