Notlar The letter relates to the recent grounding of a vessel (the Fath-el-Khyer) off the Oman coast close. Kemball writes that he has received a reply from the Imam of Muscat in relation to the incident. A translation of the Imam of Muscat’s letter (folio 243), dated 23 May 1854, is enclosed with Kemball’s letter. In the letter the Imam states that the Beni Boo Ali tribe no longer submit to his authority. Enclosed with Kemball’s letter is another letter, the translated substance of a letter (folios 244-45) from the British Agent at Muscat, addressed to Kemball, dated 28 May 1854. The Agent’s letter answers a series of questions raised by Kemball in relation to the Beni Boo Ali tribe, including who they own allegiance to, where they live, their maritime capabilities, and the ports they frequent. | 4 folios | more | less
