Notlar	Letter regarding communications relating to the evacuation of Bombassa [Mombasa island] by British authorities, and stating that he had addressed a letter to the Imam of Muscat (Saʻīd bin Sulṭān) on the subject:Letter from Ephraim Gerrish Stannus, Resident at Bushire, to His Highness the Imam of Muscat, 11 December 1826 (11 Jummadu Ul Aval) formally informing him that the British authorities had departed from Bombassa and that one of the main obstacles to his reestablishing his authority there had now been removed. The letter goes on to request that the Imam treat the inhabitants of the island with a degree of leniancy; and discusses the potential interest of French authorities at Bourbon [Reunion] in the matter. \| 2 folios \| more \| less
