Notlar Letter reporting on intelligence from the British agent at Sharjah, Hajee Yacoob, that some of the cargo of indigo plundered from the British vessel Centaurhas been reported on the Batinah coast and at Fujeerah [Fujairah]. Kemball encloses a copy of Yacoob's report (ff 179v-80) with his own. Dated 20 September 1853, Yacoob's states in his report that he has been informed that some of the indigo plundered from the British vessel Centauris being stored on the Batinah Coast (Ukkur) and at Fujeerah [Fujairah]. Yacoob writes that he has communicated with Sheikh Sultan ben Suggar [Sultan bin Saqr], who counts Fujairah as one of his dominions, reminding him of his obligations to the British to recover the indigo where possible. Yacoob also writes that he himself has managed to purchase some of the stolen indigo from Rulsulkhymah [Ra's al-Khaymah]. | 3 folios | more | less
