Notlar	Letter regarding Green's work in Khelat [Kalāt], his success in suppressing rebellions there thus far, the pressures on the people of Beloochistan [Baluchistan] to detach themselves from India, and the need to occupy Quetta before other forces do.The letter updates Pelly on news of the movement of the Persians who were at Meshed en route to Herat; the Sultan of Herat having asked for assistance from Dost Mahomed; and the likelihood of the Afghans siding with Russia once they realise the British are unable to assist them. Also discussed is the likelihood that if Russia takes possession of Herat they will then be able to flank the Indian empire on the right by Kokund, on the left by Beloochistan and in the centre via Candahar.The letter concludes by commenting on Pelly's letters in the Daily News, and general opinions of the running of both England and India. \| 4 folios \| more \| less
