Notlar This file contains correspondence regarding the appointment of Stuart George Knox as the first British Political Agent in Kuwait and Daud ar Rahman Khan [Da'ud al-Rahman] as his assistant. The correspondence discusses the political repercussions of the appointment including its impact on Britain's relations with the Ottoman Empire and Abdul Aziz ibn Abdulrahman ibn Faisal Al Saud [‘Abd al-‘Azīz bin ‘Abd al-Raḥmān bin Fayṣal Āl Sa‘ūd (Ibn Saud)] as well as the practicalities of the step including whether or not a British flag should be flown. Copies of correspondence (in English and Arabic) between Shaikh Mubārak Āl Ṣabāḥ of Kuwait and Stuart George Knox are also contained in the file.The file also contains a report written by Lord George Nathaniel Curzon concerning his trip around the Persian Gulf in 1903 (ff 117-119) and correspondence regarding the desire of a British convert to Islam to travel to Riyadh. | 1 volume (183 folios) | File is arranged in chronological order, from earliest at beginning of the file to most recent at end.An index of topics discussed in the file is contained on ff. 1-2. | Condition: A bound correspondence volume.Foliation: The file's main foliation sequence commences at the first folio and terminates at the last folio; these numbers are written in pencil, are circled, and can be found in the top right corner of the recto side of each folio.
