Notlar	Letter informing Pelly that there are no positions at present that he feels would justify inflicting a straw widowhood (term used to describe a woman whose husband was often away on business) on Lady Pelly.The letter goes on to discuss the need for military action to take place on the Indian frontier before political matters there can be discussed and observes that the Cabinet (of the British Government) are unable to make their minds up on the matter.The letter concludes by expressing Lord Lytton's desire to meet Pelly's wife when he is next in England.A duplicate copy of the letter is also enclosed (folios 245-246). \| 4 folios \| more \| less
