Notlar	Pelly's draft, primarily written in pencil, regarding a possible alternative location for the Political Residency and its benefits and disadvantages.Pelly proposes a possible location at Cassab [Khussub] on the Mussundoom [Musandam] Promontory which would put the Residency, Telegraph and Coal Depot in the same location and would provide better commercial and political links, would give command of the entrance of the Gulf and would potentially provide better support for local agents in the area.The letter goes on to describe how the changing politics of the region support the proposal, particularly the decrease in power of Muscat since it and Zanzibar had become separate Sultanships; how the proposed changes would affect Bushire; suitable locations where the telegraph could be landed at which agents could cope with the climate; and the future impact of Turkey and Russia on the region.The official typed version of this letter can be found at Mss Eur F126/37/1 \| 6 folios \| Item foliated as 24-29 \| more \| less
