Notlar The letter is a covering letter, with an enclosure relating to the recent import of seventy slaves into the ports of Charrack [Bandar-e Chārak] and Kelat on the Persian coast. The enclosure is an extract of paragraph 16 of despatch no.32 of 1854 (folio 326) from the Honourable Court of Directors, dated 22 November 1854. The extract notes that, in spite of obtaining a confession of the importation of slaves into Kelat, the Resident’s remonstrance have yet to yield any effect. It is also noted that the chief of Bandar-e Chārak offered to give up ten slaves, stating that the reminder had been transported to territories beyond his control. The letter and its attachment have been bound into the volume in reverse order (enclosure first, covering letter second). | 2 folios | more | less
