Notlar Letter regarding Pelly's work in preventing disturbances in Muskat [Muscat] and summarising the response from the Secretary of State approving of Pelly's decision that the British Government should not get involved with the affairs of Syed Turkee [Turki bin Said], unless there is a threat to maritime peace. The letter discusses matters including a request from the widow of Hajeee Ahmed, formerly a Residency Moonshee [Munshi] for assistance in obtaining her shares of her husband's property before Mirza Abdullah obtains it.The letter also informs Pelly of troubles with the Persian authorities over the shipping of mules and fodder for the Abyssinian Expedition, and that the Mellik [Malik al-Tujjar] who had previously offered assistance to the British in shipping the animals had since become overly cautious and would no longer provide assistance. The letter concludes by reporting that the Governor of Bushire has arrived at Reshire and will be at Bushire 24 October. The letter refers to numerous enclosed letters and copies of official records which are not enclosed with this letter. | 4 folios | more | less
