Notlar The letter and its enclosures relate to the slave trade into Persia and British measures for its suppression. The enclosures following Kemball's letter are as follows:1. Letter (folios 271-72) from Lieutenant-Colonel Justin Sheil, Her Majesty's Minister Plenipotentiary and Envoy Extraordinary at the Court of Persia, to Kemball, dated 10 January 1853, in which Sheil approves of Kemball's proposals for the amount of fines to be exacted from the Arab chiefs of Lingah [Bandar-e Lengeh] and Magoo;2. Letter no.46 of 1853 (folios 273-77) from Kemball to Sheil, dated 1 February 1853, itself including a number of enclosures: a) the translation of a letter addressed to the chiefs of Bandar-e Lengeh, Magoo and Kelal, dated 28 January 1853, informing each of them of the fines imposed upon them for the involvement of their subjects in the previous season's slave trade; b) the translation of letter from Kemball to His Royal Highness Feeroz Meerza, the Prince Governor of Fars, dated 1 February 1853, regarding cooperation with Ali Reza Khan in the suppression of the slave trade; c) a translation of a letter from Feeroz Meerza to Kemball, confirming arrangements for cooperation in collecting fines from the Arab chiefs of Fars;3. Letter no.36 of 1853 (folios 278-80) from Kemball to Commodore George Robinson, Commanding Officer Persian Gulf Squadron, dated 28 January 1853, with instructions to proceed to the ports of the Fars coast, for the exaction of fines imposed upon the chiefs of Bandar-e Lengeh, Magoo and Kelal. | 12 folios | more | less
