Notlar John Patterson Porter forwards an extract of a letter, dated 20 November 1850, from Commander Archibald MacDonald of the HC sloop of war Clive. In the extract, MacDonald confirms that he delivered 300 dollars to the Native Agent at Muscat and made enquiries regarding the soor boat that was plundered by the pirate, Saheil ibn Atish. MacDonald states that the Agent knows neither the name of the nackodah [nakhuda], nor the place to which the boat belongs. MacDonald reports that the Agent has informed him that the Imaum [Imam] of Muscat [Sa‘īd bin Sultān Āl Sa‘īd] has prepared three ships to go against his son, Saaed Hillael [Sayyid Hilal bin Said al-Said], who has rebelled against him. | 2 folios | more | less
