Notlar The letter and its enclosure relate to naval resources in the Persian Gulf for use in the suppression of the slave trade. Anderson encloses a letter addressed to Lord Mountstuart Elphinstone, Governor and President in Council in Bombay, from Rear Admiral Sir Henry Leeke, Commander in Chief of the Indian Navy, dated 30 July 1855. In the letter Leeke reiterates the lack of resources he has to assist in the suppression of the slave trade in the Gulf, suggesting instead that vessels in the Persian Gulf and at Aden be put to use instead, by sending them out at the time corresponding to the season when boats return from Africa. | 2 folios | more | less
