Notlar The letter is forwarding copies of correspondence relating to British claims against the Governor of Bushire, the Shaik Abdull Russool Khan [Shaikh ‘Abd al-Rasūl Khān].Six enclosures:1. Letter from Samuel Manesty, Resident at Bussora [Basra] to William Bruce, dated 30 October 1808. The letter states that the supplies requested for the British Persian Mission at Bushire are not available at Bussora.2. Letter from Samuel Manesty, Resident at Bussora [Basra] to William Bruce, dated 30 October 1808. The letter concerns the transmission of an unnecessary communication from Bushire.3. Letter from Captain Charles Pasley to William Bruce, dated 31 October 1808. The letter outlines that the Captain's role as Acting Envoy to the Court of Persia ceased the moment Sir Harford Jones [Brydges] arrived at Bushire. Enclosed within is a letter from Neil Benjamin Edmonstone to Brigadier General John Malcolm, dated 21 August 1808, authorising the payment of an assistant's allowance for the Surgeon Andrew Jukes for the period he acted for William Bruce.4. Letter from Nicholas Hankey Smith to [Ja‘afar ‘Alī Khān], dated November 1808. The letter concerns a packet the recipient has been asked to acquire or copy for the British.5. Translation of a Firmaun [Firman] from Ḥusayn ‘Alī Mirzā, the Prince at Sheraz [Shiraz] to Shaik Abdul Russool Khan, Governor of Bushire, dated Zeekada 1222. It informs the Governor that Mohumed Hoossun Khan Khishtee has been ordered to Bushire and instructs him that he should send daily reports of the state of affairs at Bushire to the Royal Court at Tehran.6. Translation of a letter from Nusroolla Khan to Shaik Abdul Russool Khan, Governor of Bushire. The letter concerns the Governor's negligence in keeping the Persian Court at Tehran up to date with affairs at Bushire, and mentions that Hoossun Khan Khishtee is en route to Bushire to reassure the British of the Persian Government's friendly intentions towards them. | 5 folios | more | less
