Notlar Malet acknowledges receipt of Hennell's previous letters (ff 265-73, 274-75), and expresses regret that the Honourable Company's Brigantine Tigrisarrived at Muscat too late in the season to successfully intercept any vessels carrying slaves from Africa. Malet also states that the 'interferences' by Company's agents with the slave trade on land are 'inexpedient', given that the treaties signed with the Arab chiefs only allow measures to be taken at sea. | 1 folio | more | less
