Notlar In this letter, William Bruce, Resident at Bushire, states that a private correspondent has informed him that His Royal Highness the Prince, who is assembling troops for the expedition to Bahrain, has received instructions not to allow any of his troops to embark until His Highness has agreed to deliver up either his brother, Syed Saleem, or his son as a hostage, in return for the revenues of Bahrain. This proposal apparently also requires the Prince to pay 10,000 tomans annually for possession of Bahrain. Bruce states that His Highness the Imam of Muscat [Sa‘īd bin Sultān Āl Sa‘īd] will be annoyed and disgusted at the duplicity of the Persian Government. Bruce speculates that the Prince would have no objection to paying 10,000 tomans annually, as the revenues of Bahrain far exceed this sum. | 2 folios | more | less
