Notlar Letter reporting on his having advised the Imam of Muscat not to consider any attempt to take Mombass [Mombasa] until the final decision of His Majesty's Government was known; discussing intelligence obtained by the Imam that the British Establishment had been removed from Mombass; and the Colonel's advice to the Imam to refrain from taking any steps to recover possessions until information had been received from Bombay.The letter concludes with discussion of the Imam's desire to take control of Bombassa (an island), and Colonel Stannus's advice that if the place had at any time been under the protection or control of British authorities it would be advisable to wait, but otherwise it was his decision.Enclosure:Translation of a letter from Saed Ahmed ben Saed [Sāʻid Aḥmad bin Sāʻid], Wali of Zanzibar, 14 Suffer (17 September 1826) reporting that the British had removed themselves from Bombassa. | 3 folios | more | less
