Enclosed are two letters for the commanders of the expedition to Bushire.Enclosed letter 1: to Captain Charles Elphinstone, Commander in Chief of the Honourable East India Company's Marine Force in the Gulph of Persia. Gives instructions as to which ships to send back to Basra for a blockade of the Haffar [al-Ḥaffār, part of the Shaṭṭ al-‘Arab] and which to keep at Bushire as part of the expedition.Enclosed letter 2: to Charles Elphinstone and Lawrence Nilson, Commanders in Chief of the Honourable East India Company's Marine and Military Forces in the Gulph of Persia. Gives detailed orders for the expedition against the Island of Carrack [Kharg] and the aim of capturing Meer Mahana [Mīr Muhanna].Both letters are dated 21 April 1768.
