Notlar Papyrus 12 (Anani (Ananiah) b. Azariah and Tamut (Tpmt) Sell to their Son-in-Law, Anani (Ananiah) b. Haggai, the House Purchased in Papyrus 3). Written by the scribe Haggai. Recto, 34 lines of text. Blank areas at top and bottom. Small gaps at top of papyrus. Verso, single line of text. Oblong seal impression in clay. The inscription consist of alternating signs. The finger prints of the sealer are preserved, as well as the string fibers and a minute trace of papyrus. Upon Arrival: Folded and sealed papyrus of same type as 47.218.88. Tied around center and through top fold with many strands of narrow twisted thread fastened on top with large mud seal bearing cartouche-shaped impression. Single line of bold Aramaic inscribed on underside running over fold onto top edge. At left end of top three Aramaic letters. Condition: Practically intact. Slight breaks at folds. Appears to be bulkier than similar pieces in this collection. | more | less
