[i.e. Tammaro de Marinis]" inscribed in pencil on verso of front flyleaf ; "138" inscribed in pencil on 'title page' (p.7). \| Binding: Pasteboards (quite thin, semi-limp) covered in light brown leather with spine, fore edge flap, edges/turn-ins, and onlays in red leather ; Type II binding (with flap) ; board linings in green silver-flecked paper ; upper and lower covers carry mandorla and pendants with gold-tooled and gold-painted accents, as well as a gold-tooled guilloché roll border ; design continues on envelope flap ; sewn in yellow thread, two stations ; endbands virtually gone ; overall in quite poor condition with both upper and lower covers completely detached at spine (spine leather is completed detached from textblock, though spine lining remains), fore edge flap split and detaching, some abrasion, lifting and losses of leather, moisture damage, etc. \| Support: non-European (Persian) laid paper with 8 laid lines per cm. and no chain lines apparent ; quite thin (though sturdy) and transluscent . \| Decoration: Elegant illuminated headpiece (ʻunwān) at opening on p.8 consisting of rectangular panel filled with curvilinear vegetal floral design evoking arabesque in gold, red, pink and white on a field of lapis lazuli, surmounted by scalloped semi-circular piece (dome) filled with same vegetal floral design and itself surmounted by a pendant and vertical stalks (tīgh) ; the entire piece is set into a well/border consisting of gold bands flanking a band of red with white crosses ; text of written area throughout surrounded by a heavy gilt frame with second frame surrounded the text of the margins ; keywords and abbreviation symbols chrysographed occasional textual dividers in the form of red discs ; cloudbands outline in gold accents written area of several pages ; curvilinear vegetal design in gold (reminiscent of that in headpiece) flanks colophon. \| Script: Nastaʻlīq ; large, elegant hand ; serifless ; characteristic effect of words descending to baseline ; superscripting of final words and letters at the end of a line ; closed counters ; some elongation of horizontal strokes. \| Layout: Written in 11 lines per page ; frame-ruled. \| Collation: i, I+1 (3), 4 V(43), II+1 (48), I (50), i ; chiefly quinions ; foliation in black ink, Hindu-Arabic numerals ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes added leaves). \| Colophon: "Scribal," triangular, reads: "حرره الفقير المذنب الادرنوي غفر الله ذنوبه وستر عيوبه لسنة خمسين والف" \| Explicit: "فيرد ما حذف والمفتوح ما قبلها تقلب الفا تم الكتاب" \| Incipit: "الكلمة لفظ وضع لمعنى مفرد وهي اسم وفعل وحرف ..." \| Title supplied by cataloguer. \| Ms. codex. \| Fine copy of Ibn al-Ḥājib's grammatical treatise on naḥw (syntax).
