| Notlar | Following the death of Lieutenant John MacLeod on 20 September 1823, Newnham informs Stannus that the Governor in Council places the fullest confidence in his judgement and knowledge of the Gulf. He informs Stannus that the cruizer Aurorawill be ready to convey him to Bushire and that he will be afforded access to instructions issued to MacLeod during his remaining time in Bombay.
