Notlar Catalogue to an exhibition of the work of the Turkish artist Ayse Erkmen. The author refers to Brian O'Doherty's essay `Inside the White Cube', noting that his consideration of the ideal exhibition space ignores the importance of lighting. He describes the gallery space and lighting at the daad Galerie, and explains how Erkmen's installation, which uses the gallery lighting system as a base, draws the viewer's attention to the history of the house, and at the same time highlights the `interventions' which accompanied its change in purpose from private home to gallery. The author discusses other alterations which Erkmen has made including those to the café and relates her work to that of Dan Flavin and Alberto Giacometti in its use of light and space.
