Notlar This volume includes a commentary on Fatḥ al-Qadīr (The reward of the omnipotent) by Muḥammad ibn 'Abd al-Waḥid ibn al-Humām (circa 1388--1459) and several other works. Ibn al-Humām was a well-known scholar of the Hanafi Madhab (one of the four Sunni schools of fiqh, or religious jurisprudence) from Alexandria, Egypt. He was an imam and expert in the principles of fiqh and of hadith (the body of traditions relating to the Prophet Muhammad). The other works in the volume include Kashf al-Rumūz wa-al-Asrār (The exploration of signs and secrets), by Shams al-Dīn Ahmad Qādī Zādah; Sharh Bidāyat al-Mubtadī (The explanation of the beginning of the beginner), by Burhān al-Dīn 'Alī ibn Abī Bakr al-Marghīnānī; and, in the margins, Sharh al-'ināyah 'alā al-Hidāyah (The interpretation of the intention of the guidance), by Akmal al-Dīn Muhammad ibn Mahmūd al-Bābartī. The book deals with the requirements of Muslim law regarding marriage and divorce, relationships and mutual obligations, giving freedom to slaves, common issues of faith, blessings in different situations, the hajj, prayer, fasting, and appropriate clothing. The pages in this edition are not organized sequentially. The book was published in Egypt and imported into the Russian Empire in the late 19th or early 20th century.
