Druck der Müteferrika-Presse, der ersten osmanischen Druckerpresse überhaupt, in nur 500 Exemplaren hergestellt. "Himself a Baghdadi, the author composed this history of his native city from its beginning until 1130 H./1718, treating also of the Ottomans from the founding of the dynasty until the time of Ahmed II, and of the fortunes of the Muslims in general from the time of the Abbasis until Nazmizade's own day. Of the events related in the latter part of the work the author was an eye-witness. The book is of considerable value as a source for the early Ottoman period of Baghdad, and for the period from Murad's reconquest of the city (1048/1638) to 1130/1719 it is unrivalled" (Watson). - "Includes the history of Iran, Iraq, Anatolia, Damascus and Egypt beginning with the year 127 after Hegira until 1130. This is the history of Caliphs beginning with the Abbasid dynasty and their war on Baghdad. It also discusses the Ottoman viziers after the conquest of the city by Murad IV. The book can be read as a work of local history, but more importantly it was an Islamic history by an Ottoman scholar and so deserves to be studied in terms of understanding the Ottoman perception of other Islamic states and communities" (Erginbaş)
