The manuscript is a copy a poem of by Umru' al-Qais who lived in the 6th century AD and who is considered the father of Arabic poetry. His work is popular in Mandinka communities. The poem is written in Arabic with extensive glosses. Custodial history: The owner inherited it from his father after his death. Extent and format of original material: 2 pages. Physical characteristics: Unbound manuscript. Due to the poor conservation condition, the pages are torn in the middle and some words may be hard to read. Owner(s) of original material: Lamine Cisse.
