The poem is dedicated to the Tunisian scholar, Ibn Zayd al-Qayrawānī, who lived in the 4th century (AH). The manuscript is written in Arabic with extensive glosses in Mandinka Ajami. Custodial history: The owner inherited it from his father who also inherited in from his grandfather who was a student of Kang Kalifa Diaby, a famous Mandinka scholar and educator from The Gambia.
