These scholia are written on margins in different directions explaining the text., • Incipit, folio 3v: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم، قال الشيخ الامام العالم العلامة شمس الدين أبو عبد الله محمّد بن قاسم الشّافعي تغمّده الله برحمته و رضوانه امين., • Explicit, folio 147r: تمت هذه النسخة علي يد افقر العباد و احوجهم الي الله تعالي حمزه ابن حمزه النويهي الشافعي مذهب غفر الله له و لوالديه و لمن دعي له بالمغفرة و لكل لمسلمين اجمعين تمت هذا الكتاب المسمي تقريب في وقت عسا ؟ و قيل في وقت لصبح في يوم الخمس في شهر بشر في الهلال الستة في السنة الف هجرة النبوة الكن المكاتب في شدة الجهل مع سوء سورة (؟) بالصواب و الخطء و الله اعلم., • Based on the watermarks/countermarks of the papers, the text is transcribed post 1846, however, both texts have colophons crediting transcription to the scribe Ḥamzaj ibn Ḥamzah al-Nuwaihī [?]; listing completion of transcription of the manuscript in the early morning on Thursday, in year 1000 AH (1592). Most probably the scribe copied the text as well as the colophon from another copy. These copies have numerous scribal errors., • Binding note: Leather binding with tooling, one central stamp and four corner pieces, with a detached envelop flap. Inside the envelope flap, front and back covers have blue paper pastedowns with cream paper overlay. Sewing likely from a later repair; stab binding on four stations with a cream thread, stick core endbands. Dluwang patches applied over leather to strengthen binding at hinges have failed and broken. Previous masking tape repair to cover ; text block trimmed close with some loss of marginalia and catchwords. European-style laid paper in cream. Watermark visible (Dutch lion with a sword in a crowned medallio, inscribed 'concordia res parvae crescunt'. Countermark 'VDL'. Based on the watermark, the paper was made by the factory Jan, Claes and Aris van der Ley in Zaandijik, Netherlands sometime after 1846 (Hinzler 1986, p.7).

This text explains Islamic jurisprudence through analysis and commentary on the text of al-Ghāyat wa-al-Taqrīb (written by 'Abū Shujāʿ al-Iṣfahānī). This is one of the important Shāfiʿī books used as a textbook in Islamic institutions, schools and even mosques. The text of al-Ghāyat wa-al-Taqrīb is written in red and the commentary and explanations in black.
Dil notu Main text is written in Arabic in Malay Naskh script. Interlinear Javanese notes and translations. Arabic explanations on the text on the margins of some folios.
