Ilias, nicknamed Sapounǧi Oghlou, who lived in the city of Amasia. This work bears a dedication to Sultan Mohammed II, son of Sultan Mourad II, and it was offered to this prince in the year 870 AH (1460-1466); the manuscript is autograph; it is decorated with numerous paintings, which represent surgical operations, which are copied from those of the Persian original, which were themselves copied from the illuminations of a 12th century Arabic work that he translated; it belonged to the Serail library. The translation was carried out in Asia Minor, by a doctor, named Sharaf ed-Din ibn ʿAli ibn el-Hağğ Ilias, nicknamed Sapounǧi Oghlou, who lived in the city of Amasia.
