It is a supplement to the biographical dictionary of Abou Saʿd ʿAbd al-Karîm al-Samʿânî, by Moḥammad ibn Saʿîd ibn al-Dobaïthî al-Wâsiṭî, died in 637 AH (1239 AD). The present ms. contains the second part of the work, beginning with the name of Aḥmad and ending with the notice of Ḥaddjâdj ibn ʿAlî.
