The last dictation by Imam al-Bukhari for his Sahih was in Bukhara in the year 252 AH, and the dictation before that was in February in the year 248 AH. Since his last dictation is considered a final highlight of the book, we have adopted it as the year of his writing, and some researchers have indicated that the year of his writing of the book is the year 232 AH.

In the name of God, the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, was sent to Khosrau and Caesar... On the authority of Abu Bakra, may God be pleased with him, who said, “God has benefited me with a word I heard from the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, on the days of the camel after I had almost caught up with the people of the camel... ... “And if there are a hundred of you who are patient, they will defeat two hundred.” He said, and when God shortened the number of days for them, he reduced their patience in proportion to the last part of the eighteenth of the thirty parts, and it is followed by Surah Bara’ah.

وقفُ الفقيرِ عبدِ السَّلامِ الشطيِّ على نفسِه، ثمَّ على ذريِّتِه، ثمَّ على رحمِه.ثمَّ جعَلَ الفقيرُ محمَّدٌ جميلٌ الشطيُّ سبطُ الواقفِ مقرَّه في مكتبةِ دمشقَ العموميةِ لما فيه من المصلحةِ الشرعيَّةِ، وباللهِ التوفيقُ في 6 شوال سنةَ 1321هـ.وكُتبتْ بصيغةٍ أُخرى في آخرِ النُّسخةِ: أوقَفَ هذا الجزءَ الشريفَ الشيخُ عبدُ السَّلامِ الشطيُّ إمامُ الحنابلةِ في جامعِ دمشقَ الأمويِّ، ثمَّ جعَلَ سبطُه الفقيرُ محمَّدٌ جميلٌ الشطيُّ مدرسُ مدرسةِ موسى جلبي في بروسة مركزَه في مكتبةِ دمشقَ العموميةِ.
